Targeting: Device, Digital Product, and Customer (FSB)

FSB offers various targeting features to help you select when to display a bar. This guide will cover device targeting, digital product targeting, and customer targeting.

Device targeting

Default setting:

By default, the bar will display on both desktops and mobile devices:

⚠ Please note
With this setting selected, when the bar displays on mobile devices, a cap will be placed on the font-size and padding. This helps avoid large text sizes on smaller screens.

Desktop only:

Alternatively, you can choose for the bar to only display on desktops:

When set this way, the bar will not display on mobile devices -- only desktop computers.

Mobile only:

Finally, you can choose for the bar to only display on mobile devices.

When a bar is set to display only on mobile devices, there are no caps placed on font-size.

Digital Product targeting

⚠ Please note
This method of targeting is outdated. It is recommended to use Free Shipping Exceptions instead.

Default setting:

By default, the bar will include all products in its calculation of how much more is needed to achieve free shipping.

You can, however, choose to exclude all non-physical/digital products from the calculation toward achieving free shipping.

Products can be set to physical or non-physical in their product settings:

⚠ Please note
Using this targeting to exclude digital items from the bar calculation will also result in the bar not displaying on product pages for the affected products.

Customer Targeting

⚠ Please note
Customer targeting requires that:
 • customers be logged in
 • the app embed be turned on for the app in your theme:

Default setting:

By default, all customers, logged in or not, will have the bar displayed.

Customer Tag:

You can choose to target the bar to only display to customers with a specific tag:

In this example the bar is being set to only display to customers with the tag 'vip'.

Be sure to set the same tag to the customers you wish to be able to see the bar:

In this example, the bar will only display for customers who are signed in and have the tag 'vip'.

Lifetime Spent:

Another way to target customers is by the amount that they've spent in your store since registering an account.

In this example, the bar would only display to signed in customers who have spent 500 or more (the currency is in your shop's base currency).

Hiding the bar:

Similar to targeting the bar so that only certain customers can see it, you can set the bar to be hidden from certain customers.

When hiding by tag, non-signed-in customers will see the bar. Only signed in customers who have the tag assigned will have the bar hidden from them.

Hiding by customer amount spent is different. It requires that the customer be signed in to work. If the customer isn't signed in, the bar will not be displayed. In they are signed in, the bar will be hidden to all customers who have spent less than the amount specified.
