Should I use Translation Feature or targeting? •

We have integrated the Free Shipping Bar App with our translation App called Hextom: Translate & Currency. With this feature, you can translate the text on the bar into different languages that your website supports. This raises the question: is it better to translate a single bar into multiple languages or create distinct bars for each language?

Here are two use cases to help you decide:

Use case #1

If you want to present the same content on the bar for all your website visitors regardless of their locations.

Feature to use:

You can use the translation feature to translate the text on the bar into the languages that you want to support.

See this guide to be assisted in setting up the bar translation.

Use case #2

If you have different shipping offers for different locations, for example:

  1. "Free Shipping for orders over $50" for customers from the U.S.
  2. "Free Shipping for orders over $100" for customers from Mexico.

Feature to use:

You should NOT use the translation feature in this case since the goals are different. You should create two bars:

  1. Bar A:  "Free Shipping for orders over $50"
  2. Bar B:  "Envío gratis para pedidos superiores a $100"
  3. Target each bar to the relevant market using either Visitor Location or Shopify Market targeting.

See this guide for help deciding between and setting up the Visitor Location targeting and Shopify Market targeting.
