Currency Configuration •

The Free Shipping Bar lets you display your free shipping goals in the appropriate currency for your customers. This article explains how to set the bar's currency, use Auto Currency Conversion for multiple markets, and apply rounding options to converted amounts.

On this page:

Setting the Free Shipping Bar Currency

By default, the Free Shipping Bar will display the currency that is set in the bar configuration.

The bar's currency can be set in 2 places:

  • Beside the goal

  • In the currency configuration section

In the Currency Configuration section, you can edit the Currency, Currency Symbol, and the position of the Currency Symbol.

Auto Currency Conversion

If you are on the premium plan, you also have access to the Auto Currency Conversion feature.

How does Auto Currency Conversion work?

Our Auto Currency Conversion feature works in a few different ways.

If you are using Shopify Markets and set different currencies by market, the app will use the same currency as the market.

This way, as your customers change currencies while shopping, the Free Shipping Bar currency will also change accordingly.

If you aren't using Shopify Markets but are instead converting your prices by other means, Free Shipping bar will use the customer's IP address to determine their location (country) and display the goal in the main currency for that country.

When to use Auto Currency Conversion

If the free shipping goal is the same in all countries that you are displaying the bar, currency conversion is the tool to use.

However, if different regions have different goals, the best path is to use 2 different bars and set each to the currency for that market. For example, if in the Canadian market, customers get free shipping on orders over $45 CAD while in the US market, customers get free shipping when spending $35 USD, you would create 2 bars and set each bar's currency to the appropriate currency.

When using currency conversion, the converted amount may not be an aesthetically pleasing number. For instance, the original goal of 35 USD may convert to €32.36 Euros in the European market. You may wish to round the number after it's been converted.

Note:

When using auto currency conversion, the goal amount is in the shop's base currency. But when setting the currency explicitly (when not using conversion but instead setting the currency), the goal is in the currency that has been set.

Rounding options for converted amounts

Use this option to round the free shipping goal up to the nearest whole number. For example, if the original goal converts to €100.01, enabling Round goal up will display it as €101.
